Scams Awareness month
Uttlesford CAB are planning to tweet every day during May on the subject of scams and their prevention. So please look out for information about scams on https://twitter.com/UttlesfordCAB.
Citizens Advice and the Trading Standards Institute are running a campaign nationally and we have attached a checklist which can be found on a Citizens Advice website at http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/index/campaigns/current_campaigns/consumer_campaigns/sam14/sam14_consumers.htm
It is shocking how prevalent scams are, they can cause widespread hardship and it is estimated that only 5% are ever reported. Every day the CAB see victims of scams - people desperately looking for housing, jobs and better energy deals for their homes are prime targets, as are the elderly.
People should always report scams and suspected scams to Action Fraud 0300 123 2040 www.actionfraud.police.uk The CAB can offer support to those who have been scammed. To make an appointment call 01799 618840 or visit www.uttlesfordcab.org.uk for more information.
